We all have some fantasies in life and we dream about becoming a mythical character some day. To me, it is the ‘Mesmerizing Mermaids’. Ever since I watched The Little Mermaid when I was a kid, I started fanaticizing about living a life of a mermaid in the deep blue sea, having fins over legs and collecting all possible treasures that were available in the ocean. Well, the list was endless and I always kept talking about becoming a mermaid princess in the school and everybody thought I was a weird kid.
What fascinated me more about being a mermaid? It is the freedom from responsibilities, carefree life, the peace of an ocean, and the power of the fins. And not just that, who wouldn’t love to be a beautiful creature with long fins and braided hair, known for her mysterious beauty and grace? I found out there were many wannabe mermaids like me, in my friends’ circle, knowingly or unknowingly looking to escape the reality and to get lost on some island.
Summer holidays were the closest that I could get for living the life of an ocean Princess. I traveled extensively to the Mediterranean and Pacific oceans and spent hours snorkeling and scuba diving to satisfy my desires to live deep down the ocean for few minutes. But, after many years passed, I began to realize that I actually possessed all the qualities of a mermaid (except for the tail). All I had to do was believe and live life on my own terms!
