I have enough jewelry – Said no woman ever!
We women can never get enough of jewelry because beads and bling are indeed a woman’s best friends. A pretty necklace or an exquisite pair of earrings will satisfy a lady better than any other expensive gift in the world. But when it comes to storing, organizing, cleaning and taking care of our beloved jewelry, most of us are too ignorant. Here are some handy tips and hacks on maintenance for those jewelry-obsessed women.
Homemade Jewelry Cleaner For Genuine Gold
Your dirty gold jewelry can be cleaned at home by mixing in few drops of any mild dishwashing detergent with the club soda. Let your gold jewelry sit in the liquid solution for 15 to 20 minutes and scrub away the grime with a cotton cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush and pat dry once finished.
Baby Powder to Untangle the Chains
It can be quite annoying and daunting to untangle the jewelry in your hectic morning hours. But there is a simple solution to every problem. The easiest way to untangle a chain is to sprinkle some baby powder and pull apart the tangled chain with a pin. But care should be taken to not use too much of powder otherwise you will end up doing an extra job of cleaning up all the powder from the chain crevices.
Fasten a Bracelet with a Paperclip
Let’s admit it – We all struggle to put on the bracelet with nil or minimal help and we often seek the help of our significant other to help us wear our favorite bracelet. Here is a good news for all those strugglers – You can use a simple paperclip and unfold it to make it look like the shape of an S. Now hook one side of the clip on to the jump ring of the bracelet and while holding the other side of the S, wrap the bracelet around with your free hand and fasten it.
Cleaning Sterling Silver Jewelry
Sterling silver is most widely used in our everyday jewelry and hence it is more prone to chemical reaction faster than any other metal.
Always store your sterling silvers in an airtight or ziplock pouch and not in wooden, cardboard or any metal boxes.
Just plain water and mild soap are good enough to clean the silver jewelry. For that extra sparkle, take a bowl and line it with aluminum foil, fill some hot water and add a mixture of baking soda and salt. Keep all the sterling silver jewelry enclosed in the bowl for 30 minutes and you will see the magic when you take it out.
Thread your Necklace with Straw
Packing all the jewelry while traveling can be cumbersome as you would not be carrying all your pretty jewelry organizers. Especially the necklaces get easily tangled if carried with other stuff in the same pouch. But you can easily avoid such disasters by simply threading your pretty necklaces in a straw and fasten the clasp. They will stay intact and untangled to adorn your neck readily.
Hope we made your life easy to make the most out of your favorite accessories.
Go sparkle, shine and rule the world!
